Educational Resources

Core Value: Pursue Education and Growth

Interested in learning more about ingredient integrity? Below are some of the resources we consult that have valuable information for consumers.

Environmental Working Group (EWG) is a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to protecting human health and the environment. We highly recommend EWG’s consumer guides for ratings on food/seafood/produce, cosmetics, and cleaners, and information on safer sunscreen, water filters, and even cell phone use! They rate products based on health concerns of ingredients including overall hazard, cancer, developmental & reproductive toxicity, allergies & immunotoxicity, and use restrictions. Molly’s Suds Original Laundry Powder is rated A by EWG! We are not (yet) EWG Verified but feel confident that the ingredients in our products would all score well. The process is quite lengthy and quite expensive to become verified; especially for small businesses like ours.

Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families fights for strong chemical policy, works with retailers to phase out hazardous chemicals, and educates the public about ways to protect our families from toxic chemicals. Learn more about toxic chemicals today.

Women’s Voices For the Earth is an organization that amplifies women’s voices to eliminate the toxic chemicals that harm our health and communities and envisions a world where women lead creating a healthy environment without toxic chemicals in our workplaces, homes, and communities. Their core values consist of justice, fairness, equity, alliance-building, and engagement.

Ingredient Certification

Core Value: Stay Mindful of People & the Environment

The Leaping Bunny Program is the only cruelty-free certification program consumers can truly trust. Because there are no regulations limiting the animal testing claims that companies can make, the only way to know if a company has eliminated animal testing from its product line is to seek out information from third-party certification programs. The Leaping Bunny Logo has consistently been given high marks by consumer, environmental, and lifestyle magazines as a seal that lives up to its promise. Click to learn more about The Leaping Bunny Standards. Our products have been Certified Cruelty-Free since 2011.

All Molly’s Suds detergents and cleaners are made using vegan ingredients, with the exception of our Wool Dryer Balls. While we are no longer Certified Vegan, we work closely with our suppliers to ensure that each of our ingredients does not contain animal products or byproducts and they have not been tested on animals.

A note about certifications, certifications are valuable for the consumer, and we know that you depend on them when making purchases. As a small business, each certification can cost us yearly $1,000-$20,000 or more! The value of a certification is that it allows us to license the certification logo on our website and product packaging. While we may not have every certification available, we want to assure you that we work very closely with our suppliers and manufacturers to ensure that our ingredients are Always Safe for people & the planet.

Partnerships & Community

Core Value: Act Charitably

Molly’s Suds donates detergent every year to wash thousands of loads of laundry for individuals and organizations around the world.

Laundry Project by Current Initiatives is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization incorporated in Florida that started with young adults committed to educating others on current social initiatives and mobilizing them to bring about change.

The Laundry Project assists low-income families with meeting a basic need – washing clothes and linens, by turning laundromats into community centers of hope. Laundry fees are paid for while volunteers assist with laundry services, entertain children, and create a caring space at the laundromat.

Molly’s Suds sponsors wash days in Tampa & St. Petersburg, Florida. In addition to supplying the organization with Laundry Powder and Oxygen Whitener, our employees dedicate a minimum of one day each year donating their time to a local laundry day. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Molly’s Suds has been the primary detergent sponsor for Laundry Projects designed to provide relief to those impacted by COVID-19 across Florida, Nevada, New York and Virginia. During the first 13 weeks of the relief efforts, they’ve washed over 8,380 loads of laundry for 859 families.

Molly’s Suds is a member of the St Pete Chamber of Commerce, mentors local businesses through the Greenhouse’s Entrepreneurial Academy, mentors students at Eckerd College, and speaks at local events each year.

Molly’s Suds received the Gold Medal for Giveback by Hey Social Good. Hey Social Good is an organization that works to connect people to companies who are proactively making a positive impact. They also produce the Good Smack Podcast where they interview inspiring leaders, business owners and thought provokers in the world of sustainability and social good to inspire you with more mindful, conscious actions.
